Winter wonderland decorations
Using a variety of stamps and cutters, create your own Christmas and seasonal decorations.
This one day class will allow you to explore texturing and stamping clay to create your own home decorations. This may include stars, trees, baubles, small hanging garlands or a quirky winter house, thus gaining hand building and decorating skills. Porcelain clay, which is white and translucent when fired, will be available for use if you wish for flat and hanging pieces.
I will have a variety of ideas and objects for you to start with and then let your imagination do the rest.

Handbuilding House Workshops with Alison Gray
Build your own model house using templates and imagination to create a colourful sculpture suitable for use as an oil burner or tea light holder.
While gaining experience in slab building techniques, this two day class encourages you to create a imaginative, quirky house.
Week 1: 4 hours
Following a short demonstration on creating a small solid house using stamps and sticks to create features, we will make 2-4 houses each to learn about texture and clay. (30-40 mins.)
The second part involves constructing a medium sized house using slab building techniques. We will then cut out windows and doors then add texture. (Bricks, roof tiles, plants, chimneys, birds etc.)
Week 2: 3 hours
This will take place two weeks later after your sculptures has been fired and is ready to be decorated using underglazes and slips. There will be a short demonstration on using these. At the end of the class the pieces will be allowed to dry before a transparent glaze is applied.
Your houses will be available for collection approximately 2 weeks later.

Evening Handbuilding with Alison
Alison’s relaxed five week class is held in a working studio where you will learn the techniques involved in hand-building your own ceramic vessel or small project.
Three techniques will be introduced – pinch pot, coil, and slab building – before I encourage you to work to your own imagination. I have ideas and books to assist you in your project and I will be there throughout to guide, encourage and assist as necessary. The last evening will be spent decorating your pieces using underglazes.
All work will be available to collect approximately 4 weeks later, after the final glaze firing

Summer Weekend Hand-Building Workshop with Alison Gray
Join Alison for a weekend of creating and decorating your own hand-built vessel or sculpture. This weekend class is suitable for beginners and those with previous experience. Alison will teach basic hand-building techniques while providing any necessary guidance or assistance.
Day 1: Saturday 18th July
After introductions you will spend the day creating your own project, while learning the skills required to build and refine the piece(s).
Day 2; Sunday 19th July
We will spend this session completing and decorating your piece(s) using slips and underglazes.
The pieces wlll be ready for collection approximately 4 weeks later, after a transparent glaze has been added.
All work will be available to collect 3-4 weeks later.

Wednesday Evening pinch pot cups with Anna Samson
Anna’s Wednesday evening class is a one day workshop where you will make a pair of pinch pot cups.
You will learn the pinch pot technique and make 2 cups. You will choose a glaze and Anna will fire and glaze the cups for you, so when you pick them up they will be fully functional vessels.

Wednesday Evenings with Anna Samson
Anna’s Wednesday evening class is a five week course suitable for beginners and students wishing to refresh their ceramics skills and techniques.
You will learn the basics of working with clay and the three ceramics techniques such as making pinch pots, slab building and making coil pots. Taking home glazed pieces at the end of the course.

Thursday Evenings with Alison Gray
Alison’s five week class, held within a working studio, is suitable for both beginners and those wishing to build on existing hand-building skills.
This class will help you learn and develop the techniques to Coil, Pinch pot, and Slab-build creating pieces that you can use at home.
The class includes all materials, glazing and firing, with pieces collectable within 4 weeks of the final evening.

Weekend Bird Bath Workshop with Alison Gray
Alison’s hand-building course is suitable for beginners and students with previous experience.
This two day workshop will develop your skills in creating a free standing birdbath, which will then be decorated with slips. The glazed, finished bath will be suitable for outdoor use all year round. The approximate size of the birdbath will be: 35cm x 35cm x 40cms.

Tile Making Class with Alison Gray
This four week introduction to hand making tiles will cover handling of clay, relief, sgrafitto and inlay techniques.
In the final week the tiles can be decorated using coloured slips if desired or simply glazed.
