Wheel Throwing Classes & Workshops 2026
Thursday Evening Beginners Throwing Class
Date & Time:
Thursdays 6pm-8pm, starting from 16th April.
Limited to 7 people per class.
Teacher: Crunch
Cost: £60 pp per session.
These 2 hour classes are designed for complete beginners who have never used a pottery wheel before, though they can still be enjoyable and useful for those who have some previous experience.
The class will offer a creative, relaxed and supportive learning environment. During the session you’ll be guided through the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including:
Centring the clay on the wheel
Opening and pulling up the walls
Shaping simple forms such as cylinders and bowls
Tips for improving control and consistency
Improvers Short Workshop // FOCUS ON: Handles
Dates:
Saturday 18th April: 1 – 4pm
Sunday 19th April: 11am – 5.30pm
Saturday 9th May: 2 – 4.30pm
Cost: £220 pp
This is intended to be the first in a series of short, focused workshops for those who already have some throwing experience, but who are looking to refine and develop their making skillset. You will be learning with both Cath and Sian, two experienced teachers, who actively make and sell their own work.
Spend a weekend focusing on the various methods for making handles.
A specialist class for those who have some throwing experience but would like more guidance on the process of making and adding handles to their pots.
Saturday Morning Wheel Throwing Classes
Katie’s throwing courses are suitable for complete beginners, or those of you who may have already attended a beginners course or taster class. You’ll get to grips with the basics of throwing before making, refining and decorating your own pots, which will be ready for collection up to 4 weeks after the final class.

When: Saturdays 10.30am -12.30pm
Duration: 6 weeks
Cost: £275, which includes materials and firings

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Evening Wheel Throwing Classes
Cath and Siân’s evening throwing courses are suitable for those who have not done any throwing before and for those who have done a previous beginners course or taster session and want more time to practice what they have learned with the guidance of a tutor. You will learn how to ‘throw’ and ‘turn’ pots before glazing your work in the final class, which will be ready for collection 2-3 weeks later after the final firing.
When: Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays, 6.30-8.30pm
Duration: 4, 6 or 8 weeks.
Course cost: £185, £275 or £370 per person (all materials and firings included).

Thursday Evening Wheel Throwing Class
This is a four week block of wheel throwing lessons for beginners. It is suitable for those completely new to throwing or for those who have done a previous beginners course or a taster session and want to improve on their existing skills. The Thursday evening throwing class will introduce you to techniques on the potter’s wheel. You will learn how to ‘throw’ and ‘turn’ pots before glazing your work in the final class, which will be ready for collection around 3 weeks later after the final firing.
When: 6.30pm-8.30pm
